MINISTRY OF GENDER RECEIVES 1.26MILLION DONATION FROM CHINESE GOVERNMENT

The Minister for Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare Honourable Mary Thom Navicha MP has this morning received a cheque worth 1.26 million kwacha from the Chinese government as a contribution towards addressing challenges faced by the girl child affected by the 2019 cyclone Idai.

Speaking at the official handover of the cheque at the Ministry’s Capital Hill offices in Lilongwe, the Minister said the donation will go a long way in addressing the needs of the girl child.

Minister of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare Mary Thom Navicha has assured the Malawi National Association of the Deaf (MANAD) that Government is ready to work with and support the development of the first ever Malawian Sign Language Dictionary.

This was disclosed during the commemoration of the 2019 International Sign Language Day that took place at Kaliyeka Primary School Ground in Lilongwe.
