MGCDSW signs joint work plan with the UN Family

Minister Kaliati and Seppo sign the MOUThe Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare has signed the 2015 integrated work plan with the United Nations family.

The work plan which was jointly drafted by the UN family and the ministry will help in assisting the ministry to effectively coordinate its activities in the country.

Speaking during the ceremony the minister responsible Patricia Kaliati expressed her joy that the joint integrated work plan covers the activities of all departments the ministry wants to implement in 2015.

 

“The integrated work plan shall promote, joint collaboration between my ministry and the UN in Malawi to effectively implement the planned activities, alignment of the work plan, Institutional Strengthening Framework and white paper on the National Gender Machinery, sharing and discussing the best practices during the implementation of the work plan in line with the MGDSII and UNDAF priorities,” Kaliati added.

Kaliati said she hoped she would be regularly updated on the progress made in the implementation of the work plan, and thanked the UN family for their continued support to the government and the people of Malawi.

 

Speaking on behalf of the UN, the resident coordinator Mia Seppo said the work plan shows the commitment and support the UN family has towards the ministries priorities. She said the activities of the ministry are the core of all United Nations activities.

“The ministry of Gender, children, Disability and Social Welfare is critical to all UN agencies. It deals with issues of human rights, free society, violence against women and children and helping persons with disability,” said Seppo.

 

Seppo thanked directors from different departments within the ministry and the principle Secretary for their commitment to make the work plan. She stated that the ministry must look at the work plan as a reiteration of the UN commitment to support the ministry.
